Bring your holiday home with Annie Sloan chalk paints

This time of year, thoughts turn to summer holidays. Unfortunately, the summer hols can be gone all too quickly, so how about bringing a little bit of the sunshine and colour back to give your home that all-year-round holiday feel?

Every country and culture has its own particular landscape, architecture, flora or fauna that lends itself to a colour or colours that always remind you of that place. So, the best way to have that beautiful destination with you permanently is to apply its particular accent colour to your home. Luckily, it’s easy peasy with Annie Sloan’s beautiful chalk paint, and we have all the colours in our Limpsfield shop!

What to paint?

The thing about accent colours is that you must use them sparingly. One feature wall, a statement piece of furniture, window frames, door frames, shutters, some pots, window boxes, artwork… it’s all about the accent!

Which colours?

Old Violet - Like deep Parma violets or blue lavender – conjures up French lavender fields of Provence.

Château Grey - This elegant greyed green – the traditional colour of French woodwork – furniture, shutters.

Provence – Equally at home in the south of France, the Balearics or mainland Spain, this gorgeous colour conjures up the brightly colour turquoise blue-greens of traditional wooden shutters.

Florence – a beautiful bright dark turquoise/green, Florence is a sophisticated grand colour found in neoclassical Italian and French interiors and on painted furniture.

Louis Blue - Louis Blue is a greenish soft blue reminiscent of Rococo French and Swedish interiors.

Barcelona Orange - a vivacious, modern orange – equally at home in Spain or on the pretty village houses that pepper the Amalfi coast.

Emperor's Silk – a beautiful bright red that can be found on Italian houses or in the poppies of Spain.

Arles – a rich deep yellow that was inspired by the colours of Arles, France, but is equally at home in Spain, Italy or Morocco.

Greek Blue - Throughout the Mediterranean, Greek Blue can be found on rustic doors, shutters and furniture, often faded and distressed. It's probably the most imagined colour of the Mediterranean.

Scandinavian Pink - inspired by the traditional colours found in much Swedish furniture. We use it underneath pale neutrals like Old Ochre or Old White.
